The Heritage Village in Abu Dhabi is a small yet intriguing attraction on a beach near the Marina Mall. Inside the small park, you’ll find examples of Bedouin homes and other exhibits that describe what daily life used to be like in the Emirates.

Go With a Guide
The Heritage Village is a relatively small and informal place to visit, and many guides include it as a stop on an all-day or half-day tour of Abu Dhabi that might also include a trip to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Yas Island (where you’ll find Ferrari World), or the Etihad Towers.

Visit the Craftsmen
On most days there will be a few people demonstrating traditional handicrafts inside some of the huts and tents. Make sure to visit them, since they’re always pleased to explain what they’re working on.

Snap a Photo of the Skyline
The Heritage Village is one of the best places to take pictures of the ever-changing skyline of Abu Dhabi. Located on a peninsula opposite the main city, you can get a great view of the city across.

Spend Some Time in the Museum
In addition to the huts and tents where the craftsmen and women work, there’s a small museum that tells you a bit more about the history and lifestyle of the Bedouin and other Arab tribes that formed the United Arab Emirates. Spend some time learning about the Sheikhs and the founding of the nation before heading off to explore the rest of the attraction.

Do I need a ticket to visit the Heritage Village?
No, the Heritage Village in Abu Dhabi is free to visit and you don’t need to book a ticket in advance. Some of the activities inside the village, such as camel riding and some of the workshops, incur additional charges.

Not necessarily. The story that the Heritage Village tells is generally easy enough to understand without a guide, and the attraction isn’t so big that you’ll get lost inside without help. The Heritage Village is open daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm except on Fridays when it’s open from 7:30 am to 12:00 pm (noon) and from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Special cultural events taking place in the venue may have different opening times.

how to get there
The Heritage Village is a short walk away from Marina Mall, which can be reached by taking bus numbers 11, 32, or 34. You can also park at Marina Mall if you intend to drive.
