8 tips for visiting the Aquapalace

1
Come during the weekThe Aquapalace is often busy on weekends. To avoid long waiting times at the slides and to enjoy the facilities in peace, a visit during the week is ideal.

2
Wake up early!Come as early as possible in the day to enjoy the attractions without the crowds. The Aquapalace opens early in the morning and the first few hours are often the quietest.
3
Buy tickets in advanceTo avoid queues at the check-in, it is worth buying tickets in advance online. There are often discounts or special offers that are only available online.
4
Bring your own snacksAlthough there are restaurants and snack bars in the Aquapalace, it can be helpful to bring your own snacks and drinks, especially if you have special dietary needs or want to save money.
5
Combine your visit with a stay at the associated hotelThe hotel offers you access to the Aquapalace without having to go outside. This means you can stroll back and forth between your room and the water or sauna world in your bathrobe and enjoy the experience even more.
6
Use the slides and the wave pool at quiet timesThe more popular slides and the wave pool are often very crowded in the early afternoon. It is best to use these attractions right after opening or later in the evening when most visitors have already left.
7
Book wellness treatments and the sauna in advanceIf you want to use the spa area, you should book treatments like massages or sauna visits in advance. These offers are often booked out quickly, especially at weekends.
8
Bring swimwear and towelsAlthough you can rent or buy everything on site, it's cheaper to bring your own swimwear and towels. This way, you not only save money but also time.

Holiday in Aquapalace Prague

In December 2024, my boyfriend and I spent a few days in the Aquapalace Prague and made the most of our holiday. Here is our perfect 3-day itinary in Prague during the magical pre-Christmas time.

Day 1: Arrival at Aquapalace

We set off right after breakfast to make the most of our day at Aquapalace. The catch: Entrance to Aquapalace was only included from the hotel's check-in time. After some repacking, paying an extra fee to get early access to our room and therefore to Aquapalace, and quickly changing into our slide outfits, we were finally off.

The Aquapark, or water world, was empty during our visit (on a weekday in December). So, we didn't have to queue for the slides, or deal with a crowded wave pool. Due to maintenance work, one slide was closed.

Our first day in Prague was dedicated exclusively to fun in the water world.

Day 1: The Water World

The water world is divided into three areas.
In the Palace of Treasures there is a pirate ship, the wave pool, a few fun water games and paddling pools for children, a whirlpool, a massage bench and loungers under palm trees.

In the Palace of Adventure there are the 12 slides with lengths of up to 820ft (250m). Our favorite was definitely the ’Spacebowl’, where you end up in a funnel as well as the two slides that you must go down with tires.

The Palace of Relaxation is dedicated to rest. Here you will find whirlpools, massage benches, many loungers, and a river that flows through the water world.

The outdoor area was closed in December due to low temperatures. Here you can find electric boats, a water playground for children, loungers for sunbathing, and much more.

Furthermore, there is the Coral House with many colorful fish, starfish, and corals, where we could sip cocktails in the warm water and an 26ft (8m) deep diving pit where we watched divers.

Day 2: A Full Day in Prague - Morning

The journey to Prague from Aquapalace is super easy. The bus takes you to the train and you ride it to the city center. We took a whole day to explore Prague and its Christmas markets. If you've never been there, you should plan more time for Prague.

Starting from the subway station Muzeum right at the National Museum, a Christmas market leads us along a shopping street, detouring past the Powder Tower to Old Town Square. There, we admire the Prague Astronomical Clock, the Teyn Church, and many other historic buildings. The Old Town Square is the scene for one of the city's many Christmas markets in winter. We stroll around and taste the fantastic ham and Trdelnik with a warm Nutella filling.

Day 2: A Full Day in Prague - Afternoon

Since I know Prague very well, I quickly show my boyfriend the most important places. Without the many detours tourists take, we have time to stroll and for the climb to Prague Castle. The route takes us over the Charles Bridge uphill to Prague Castle. We do not buy a ticket as we prefer to continue exploring the city. You should definitely plan half a day for visiting the castle. From the top, we have a wonderful view of the city and then enjoy the descent via the stairs. To save time, we soon get on a tram that brings us close to the Jewish Quarter. The streets are characterized by noble shops and beautiful synagogues. To explore them, you would need to plan at least another day. We decide to take a well-deserved break and warm up in the Kafka Hummus Café with ginger tea.

Day 2: A whole day in Prague - VR Adventure land in the middle of the city

Since I had already discovered Hamleys in Prague in the morning, we naturally also visited the store. I knew it contained a slide, an old carousel, and countless toys, but I wasn't aware that we would be entering a world of adventure. There's an arcade, sweets, and much more to experience. We chose to see what the VR Experince is all about. My boyfriend chose the Zombie Shooter game. After a short familiarisation phase, the game was really fun and became the highlight of our visit to Prague.

Day 2: A whole day in Prague - Evening

As in any big city, you should also reserve a table for dinner in Prague. However, I didn't think of that. Therefore, we unfortunately couldn't get a table at one of my favorite places, U Pivrnce. Instead, we discovered the restaurant U Probaznice, where the Svíčková was luckily also excellent. Right next to it is The Alchemist Bar, an elegant cocktail bar with excellent drinks. We tasted 4 cocktails and each was delicious and unique. Even the menu fits the special decor. But a visit to Prague is not complete without drinking Absinthe. Therefore, we went to the most colorful Absinthe bar we could find. Surrounded by clouds, rainbows, unicorns, and other funny decorations and wall paintings, we received an introduction to the world of the green fairy. Luckily, we also caught the last connection to the hotel.

Day 3: Relaxation at Aquapalace

The last day was completely dedicated to relaxation. The sauna world is divided into three areas, similar to the water world: classic Finnish saunas, Roman baths, and an outdoor area. There's an all-day program here. Different infusions take place in each sauna at different times. Even for inexperienced sauna-goers like me, there was plenty on offer. The area is textile-free, which I also quickly got used to.

The sauna world is truly amazingly beautiful, was not crowded on the day of our visit, and even offered lunch, so we could really spend the whole day there. The sauna in the outdoor area on the rooftop terrace and the associated rest room were often empty, which is why we retreated there frequently. We did not book a wellness treatment at Aquapalace, so I unfortunately cannot report on that.

Day 3: The Sauna Offerings

The various infusions, rituals, and body care ceremonies are something special at Aquapalace. We were able to participate in a incense ceremony, take care of our skin in the steam bath with a salt scrub, go on scent journeys, and even experience an infusion with a funny Czech story. We didn't understand much, but we still had fun. The sauna masters are very professional and know their craft. And if it ever gets too much for you, you can quietly leave the sauna at any time, even during the infusion.

Day 4: Treat Yourself One More Time!

Of course, you don't need this day, but why not enjoy the holiday? On the last day, we slid down all the slides again and visited several infusions in the sauna world before it was time to leave the Aquapalace Hotel. We didn't visit the large fitness area this time. Unfortunately, we didn't have any sneakers with us and the 20,000 steps in the city were enough fitness for the holiday. With wrinkled fingers, slightly wet hair, the thickest sweater from the suitcase, and a relaxed body, we went shopping at the neighboring Makro before we made our way home by car.
